Don and Tina have been married for 16 years and live in Caro, MI. They have 5 children (4 girls ands 1 boy) as well as a young man that they have "heart adopted/support" in Uganda, Africa. They also have 8 grandchildren (7 boys and 3 girls). Don is originally from the Deckerville area and is from a family of 5 (2 girls and 3 boys). In the last 5 years, we have lost his older brother Bob, his mother Doris, and his twin brother Ron. Even through all this, we remain strong knowing that we will see them again in heaven some day.
Tina is originally from the Flint and Vassar areas and is the only surviving daughter from a family of 6 (4 boys and two girls). Her sister was killed by her abusive husband Christmas 1974. Tina says, "I can't continue to be bitter about it. I will let God handle the situation when the man stands before Him".
Don is a marketing representative for a home health care agency, a job which he LOVES. He travels the thumb area as well as Port Huron. He has a heart to serve the Lord and other people. He is also in the Pigeon Rotary as well as being on several committees for local hospitals/facilities.
Tina is a business owner and enjoys the fact that she can set her own hours. This gives her time to work on family things as well as help Bonnie with some things for Not Ashamed (mainly shopping :) - just one of the "perks" - ha ha ha.
Don and Tina enjoy golfing, relaxing, spending time with family/friends, camping, traveling, and being a part of Not Ashamed. "These are the people we would choose if we could choose our family." That is why we refer ro each other as family.
Don was raised in a Christian home but after straying away from the Lord for 3 years, he rediticated his life to the Lord in 2000. Tina accepted the Lord as her personal Savior in 2000 after living for herself for 35+ years. Several "worldly" choices had sent her life/head/heart into a tailspin and after facing the option of a THIRD divorce, she (and Don) decided that the wreck their marriage was in, was the result of their mocking God's love, His Word, and His FORGIVENESS. They gave their lives to the Lord and have not looked back or regretted anything. Tina's favorite quote is, "I am glad God gives me what I get and not what I deserve."
We look forward to seeing what God has in store for the grou and where He will lead us.
